Installation guide

Install CleanStreak without guesswork.

Choose your browser, download the matching package, and follow the steps below. The extension runs locally and takes about two minutes to set up.

Before you start: download the correct browser package and unzip it first. When the guide asks you to select the extension, choose the folder that contains manifest.json — not the zip file itself.

Chrome, Edge, or Brave

Manifest V3 · Load unpacked

  1. Download the Chrome version and unzip it to a permanent folder.
  2. Open your browser's extensions page: chrome://extensions, edge://extensions, or brave://extensions.
  3. Turn on Developer mode using the toggle in the top-right corner.
  4. Click Load unpacked, then select the unzipped CleanStreak folder containing manifest.json.
  5. Click the puzzle-piece icon, pin CleanStreak to your toolbar, and open it to see your dashboard.
  6. For private browsing, open the extension's Details page and enable Allow in Incognito (or the equivalent setting).
Updates: keep the folder where it is. After replacing it with a newer download, return to the extensions page and click Reload on CleanStreak.

Firefox

Manifest V2 · Temporary add-on

  1. Download the Firefox version and unzip it to a permanent folder.
  2. Open about:debugging#/runtime/this-firefox in a new Firefox tab.
  3. Click This Firefox, then click Load Temporary Add-on....
  4. Open the unzipped CleanStreak folder and select its manifest.json file.
  5. Open the CleanStreak toolbar button to see your dashboard.
  6. For private browsing, open Manage Extension and enable Run in Private Windows.
Firefox limitation: temporary add-ons are removed when Firefox closes. Reload the same manifest.json after restarting, or package and sign the add-on through Mozilla for a permanent installation.

If something does not work

These are the common setup issues and the quickest fixes.

“Load unpacked” is missing

Make sure Developer mode is enabled. On managed work or school browsers, an administrator may have disabled developer extensions.

The manifest cannot be found

Unzip the download and select the inner folder containing manifest.json. Do not select the downloaded archive or its parent Downloads folder.

The extension disappeared

Chrome-family browsers may disable an extension when its folder is moved or deleted. Restore the folder and use Reload. Firefox removes temporary add-ons after a restart.

Private browsing is not tracked

Open the extension's details page and enable its private/incognito permission. This is a separate browser permission from installing the extension.
